Our newly established longform arm develops and produces smart, bold, relevant screen stories with quality production values by visionary talent. Stories that move, challenge and entertain their audience. Photoplay’s partnerships on award winning feature films Goldstone (Toronto International Film Festival), Berlin Syndrome (Sundance Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival) and Sweet Country (Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival) speak to this vision. We’re developing a slate of scripted projects in film, TV and online and are being supported in development by Screen Australia, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Screen Queensland and Create NSW.

Sam, a middle-aged Aboriginal man, moves in with his family to help a returned soldier repair a cattle farm in the remote Australian outback in the 1920s. But Sam’s relationship with the cruel and ill-tempered Harry quickly deteriorates, culminating in a violent shootout in which Sam kills Harry in self-defence. As a result, Sam becomes a wanted criminal for the murder of a white man, and is forced to flee with his wife across the deadly outback.
