John Laurie is a photographer whose work stretches across portraiture, landscape and observational still life. He strives to capture the authentic and the everyday, seeking to honour and glorify the ordinary and often overlooked moments.
John's work is characterised by his ability to create a strong sense of place, an underlying narrative and of a sense of moments happening beyond the frame. His work has taken him anywhere and beyond, from the remote islands of Indonesia's Raja Ampat to the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne where he resides. John is also a commercial director.
Entering what John considers to be his third phase, he is now focussing his creative energies towards creating bodies of work synonymous with the concepts of change, identity, subculture and transience. His practice aims to be grounded in truth, authenticity and honesty in image making.
